About Tory Welch
Tory Welch is a U.S. Army veteran and an experienced lineman who learned his work ethic at home and built his skills by hand. Growing up in Phoenix, Tory learned the value of hard work and entrepreneurism at an early age helping with the family business.
Tory worked as a ranch hand and in construction throughout his high school years that taught him a sense of satisfaction from seeing the progress he made day-in and day-out. He liked the feeling he got when he saw the things he built – as he still does today.
After high school, Tory went to work for Uncle Sam, serving as a heavy equipment operator in the U.S. Army. Deployed twice to Iraq, he built and repaired roads, bridges, airbases and various projects in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After leaving the military, Tory learned the power line business at Rocky Mountain Power, where he worked for 9 years starting as a groundman, he later earned an apprenticeship, and completed a 4-year journeyman lineman certification. Tory has worked throughout Utah from offices in Layton, Smithfield, Price and Park City.
CATO History
The CATO logo, designed by Tory in 2016, is unique and contains some special symbolism. The name CATO is taken from the ancient Roman patriot described in George Washington’s favorite play, “CATO” by Joseph Addison. CATO the younger is known in history for his unyielding integrity and unwillingness to succumb to corruption and tyranny.
The stars in the CATO logo are suggestive of the United States Seal, and are a reminder to seek the providence of heaven. The border and the logo’s font are reminiscent of the U.S. dollar bill as a symbol of patriotism. And the Roman numeral represents the year when CATO Line Construction was founded.
